Cristo Redentor
One of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World, atop Corcovado with a panoramic view.
Cristo Redentor is much more than a monument — it is Rio de Janeiro's embrace to the world. Standing 30 meters tall (38 meters including the pedestal), the open-armed statue atop Corcovado Mountain (710 meters) offers one of the most spectacular views on the planet.
Access is via the iconic Corcovado Train (departing from Cosme Velho) or official vans that drive up through Paineiras. The train ride passes through Tijuca Forest, the largest urban forest in the world.
From the top, the panoramic view encompasses Guanabara Bay, Sugarloaf Mountain, the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon, and the full grandeur of Rio. It is an unforgettable experience, especially at sunset.
